Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I would like to do some research on my family history, what records do you have available?
A: All of Haverhill's genealogical records and historic house information is stored in Special Collections at the Haverhill Public Library. Special Collections is open Monday to Wednesay from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Q: Can I show up anytime you're open to get a tour of the property?
A: Sometimes we have limited staff available for tours if there are other functions or activities happening at the museum. It's always best to call ahead to make sure a staff member will be available to help you. Please see our visit page for more information on tour hours.
Q: I'd like to support the work of the Haverhill Historical Society, is my contribution tax deductible?
A: Yes, the Haverhill Historical Society is a federally recognized 501(C)(3) organization.
Q: Are you open year-round?
A: The Buttonwoods Museum/Haverhill Historical Society is closed from November 1 through April 30 every year to save on energy costs associated with heating bills. We do though have some events and fundraisers during the months we are closed to the public for tours. Keep an eye on our calendar page for events and fundraisers!
